If you're looking for some great card games to play with your kids, here are a few of our favorites:
Go Fish
Go Fish is a classic card game that's perfect for young kids. It's easy to learn and play, and it helps kids practice their number recognition and counting skills.
To play Go Fish, you'll need a deck of cards and two or more players.
- Shuffle the cards and deal five cards to each player.
- The rest of the cards go in a pile in the center of the table.
- The youngest player goes first.
- On your turn, you can ask any other player for a card of a specific number. For example, you could say, "John, do you have any fours?"
- If the player you asked has any cards of that number, they have to give them to you.
- If the player you asked doesn't have any cards of that number, they say, "Go fish!" and you have to draw a card from the pile in the center of the table.
- The first player to collect all four cards of a number wins!
Crazy Eights
Crazy Eights is a fun and fast-paced card game that's perfect for kids of all ages. It helps kids practice their number recognition, counting skills, and problem-solving skills.
To play Crazy Eights, you'll need a deck of cards and two or more players.
- Shuffle the cards and deal seven cards to each player.
- The rest of the cards go in a pile in the center of the table.
- The youngest player goes first.
- On your turn, you must play a card that matches the number or suit of the card on top of the discard pile.
- If you don't have a card that matches, you can play an eight. Eights are wild cards, and you can play them on any card.
- After you play a card, the next player takes their turn.
- The first player to get rid of all their cards wins!
War
War is a simple but exciting card game that's perfect for young kids. It helps kids practice their number recognition and counting skills.
To play War, you'll need a deck of cards and two players.
- Shuffle the cards and deal half of the cards to each player.
- Players place their cards in a pile face down.
- Both players flip over the top card of their pile at the same time.
- The player with the higher card wins both cards and adds them to the bottom of their pile.
- If both players have the same card, there is a war!
- To declare war, each player places three cards face down on the table, followed by a fourth card face up.
- The player with the higher face-up card wins all of the cards in the war.
- The first player to collect all of the cards wins!
